Thanks For Letting Me Do It My Way!

Don’t you hate when people take your picture and you’re talking & they catch you with your mouth open! YES this is me – when I was about 16 or 17 🙂 I remember this girl – though it was a long time ago 😉 If I knew then what I know now – damn I would’ve been an incredibly dangerous woman LMAO!!

Today is my birthday – I am 53. Sometimes I am shocked that I made it this far, and sometimes I can’t believe how fast the time seems to have flown by.  I have learned so much, yet still have so much to learn! Spent the day very low key and spontaneous 🙂 (Nothing earth-shaking yet – still feel it coming though!!!!)

As I am about to end my  “special”day, I was sitting here thinking of all the things I am grateful for – & my WordPress family/community is on that list. I want to thank you all for sharing your time with me – taking the time to read and comment on my assortment of musings!

I so enjoy reading your posts, too – though I am seriously behind this past week for sure! I have read some fabulous thoughts/features/narratives/poems that were inspiring, funny, thoughtful and/or thought-provoking, informational/educational, and everywhere in between. [My Nook and bookshelves have been feeling a bit ignored lately 🙂 ]

I’m getting close to 200 followers, almost doubling over the summer – which has been a pleasant surprise. Thank you all for the great inspiration and motivation you provide! I look forward to continuing writing my way 🙂 And I look forward to your continued visits and comments, and visiting your pages and commenting, as well!

Here’s to the coming year!! ☮

Just something I was thinking about  . . . ❤

    1. Thanks so much Alexis, for the bday wishes & your kind words!! Funny thing, at that age didn’t think I was all that pretty. We all view ourselves so skewed at times. And for 53, I do ok – probably pass for late 40s 😉 I can live with that LOL!

  1. I love the look back to your teenaged self with that picture! Funny to reflect on those times, when we thought we knew so much but now we see we didn’t — and in many ways, still don’t. As you said, we learn a lot yet always have more to learn…! 🙂 Anyway, happy birthday!

    1. Thanks so much somekernelsoftruth!! Yeah, I thought I knew all I needed to know back then 🙂 Older & wiser, I know I still have much to learn! Found the pic when I was reminiscing over my young fearless free spirit days of yore LOL!!

    1. Thanks so much Moi!! I definitely still celebrate them – at least for now while I can LOL 😉
And thanks for the congrats! I’m a bit shocked that many people are interested in what I might have to say. Humbling & an honor at the same time ❤

You know I thought about you on my bday – read your immortalization of me to a few friends & relatives ❤
      They think you're the best & were a bit spot on considering you've never met me {laughing!!!}

  2. Happy birthday, Sadie. You’re a youngster at 53! Dang, that picture of you when you were 16 brings me back to that time. I would have been 19 and thinking you reminded me of all the good-looking girls at my college! The long-hair, parted-down-the-middle, bring-life-on look was so in during the late ’70s. Enjoy your day. I’m happy to hear that you look like you’re in your 40s, and I bet it’s still the bring-life-on look for you, too.

    1. Oh my gosh, Mark, I missed about 6 comments on this page, maybe because I was probably drunk when I was responding – I so apologize.
Thank you so much for the bday wishes and the compliment! Your words made me smile! I remember reading this on my phone when it came in – I just don’t typically answer them from my phone – too damn hard to type on those little keys, esp. after a few margaritas! I’m pretty sure I still got the bring-life-on look – most days anyway LOL! 😉

      1. No apology needed. But accepted neverthess, Sadie. Yeah, I hate phone-typing, too. Ugh. I bet you do have that bring-life-on-look. Your comment-box head shot gravatar illustration does, for sure. ;-0

  3. Reblogged this on On The Upside and commented:
I hate it when someone takes my picture just as I’m blinking, all you see are the whites of my eyes, like I’m suddenly possessed by some demon.

    Happy Birthday!!

I like this post because it reminds me of so many things in my life I should proud of. It’s very nostalgic, and as far as time goes, when we’re young we couldn’t wait for time to pass, and our parents’ told us, “Be careful what you wish for.” Now that I’m older, I have no idea where the time went, all of a sudden it started moving at lightning speed. Crazy.

  4. Did I miss the birthday of the Texas queen of pin ball? Happy birthday!! And you know what? I see this post was of the 16 of this month and guess what….it was my birthday too. So that was quite the coincidence.

Look at you in the picture, what a beautiful girl you where, now you´ve turned to a beautiful woman, and from the south……what a pity you are married. What can I do, can´t have everything in life. Although maybe one of these days you see me swimming the Rio Grande so get your binoculars out.

    1. Thank you, Charly!! You always make me smile so hard I laugh!! So you are a Virgo, too 🙂 Is it the 15th or the 16th?? Mine was actually the 15th, but didn’t get my post up until after midnight – I rarely do 🙂

Making an old woman blush here 😉

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, as well!! Happy belated!!

  5. WordPress stopped sending me new post notifications, so I’m catching up… Congrats on accomplishing your 53rd orbit! I accomplished my 59th two days earlier. I know exactly what you mean by never expecting to make it this far and in thinking how dangerous you’d be in your young body knowing then what you know now. (The movie, About Time, considers that very proposition!) Oh, if only!!

    1. Thanks so much WS for the bday wishes! Just noticed I missed like 6 comments on this page . . . gosh I have been such a slacker lately LOL & was probably buzzed on margaritas at the time . . .
Not sure I have seen that movie – gonna have to check that out 🙂 I know I already said it – but hope you had a great bday as well!!

      1. Heh! I know well the feeling (and perils) of buzzed blogging! 😀

If you liked Love Actually you’d like About Time. Say guy did both. They’re romcoms, but superior ones, and the latter includes an element of time travel.

  6. happy b-day and congrats on the milestone of 200 – that is very cool. 🙂 and I am glad to be one of those 200 – cos as noted before I enjoy your posts and a couple of them have stayed with me – and the biggest one has been the “bench” prompt – and who you would talk to on it if you could and one of the things you wrote was about how you treated your momma – and well, my momma is still around and we get a long very well, but had our very early years of bumping heads. Anyhow, even though we get a long well, a few years ago we had some tension about “aloe chelation” and certain vitamins my mom loves to pop – and it was a drain – anyhow, after reading your post – with your wonderful thoughts about who you’d talk to on that bench – and all were good – but that momma share was sobering – and when I talked to my mom that week I had a new tenderness for just listening to her – and told her I was sorry if I got into her case about those supplements (and it was 09 so she said something like, “um yeah, it’s all good” – “and I know where you were coming from” etc.)

my point with all this – is to again say I like your blog and the variety of posts shared here – from a song to addressing a prompt to reflecting on a night out with a friend and margaritas – just unique and good.

happy birthday Sadie – and those were just some things I was thinking about this morning with my coffee. ❤

    1. Prior – you have just made my day/night (it’s really past my bedtime LOL!)! (AND I am so sorry that I am just now responding.) Thank you so much for the bday wishes, congrats & your kind words & motivation!! I had dreamed of writing a column a lot like this for almost 2 decades. Then after getting laid off last year & being out of work longer than I anticipated, I needed something to do to keep writing and keep busy & engaged. I didn’t know if anyone would be interested in reading my thoughts. The fact that not only do you enjoy them, but you have been touched by something I have written honors me in a way I cannot describe at this moment. I love when I have smiling tears ❤
