Scenery . . .

I am so tired of being “job free” – it sucks, is soul sucking, confidence stealing, and it’s got my head all screwed up. It seems as though life is kind of at a standstill for us, though we are fully aware of all the interconnected things going on around us that can (or do) affect us positively and negatively, and we can’t seem to escape this surreal nightmare.

My husband feels the same way, though he has been able to help one of our friends, who is a framer and builds houses, occasionally. But overall, lately we are about as motivated as sloths! We’ve been talking about it, and are consciously going to start working on it right away.

BUT what I really need, besides a job for me and my husband, is to take a road trip and get the hell out of dodge. I am sick of this place, these four walls, and this whole depressing unexpected time frame in my life and I am ready for a change and especially a change of scenery.

SO, this is what I need to see, and soon!!!! What about you – how you feeling??

rearview-mirror

I have been watching much of the political news and saw the last Republican debate. Now that was entertaining at various times throughout, as well as educational, enlightening, depressing and rife with platitudes. I heard Rick Perry, who I lovingly refer to as “Govna’ Goodhair” and that Wisconsin guy dropped out. (Okay, yes tonight I am too damn lazy to go look up his name and I can’t remember it off the top of my head 😉 ) That made me smile and I wasn’t surprised – both them dropping out and my indifference to looking up that guy’s name. Carly Fiorina is coming across as a real “Iron Lady,” but I think her business record will hurt her.

And The Donald, well, all I can say is this –

TRUMP

But, I think the further we go, it’ll be realized that he has no “real strategy” for anything, knows nothing about foreign policy and is full of insults, hot air, and himself. Great traits in a boxing or wrestling ring, but disastrous in a president.

Now Lindsey Graham just scares the crap out of me . . . I think he studies Revelations on a regular basis . . . and is living it out daily. And Ted Cruz, well he gives me the heebs every time he opens his mouth – he is a true hypocrite, among other things, in my book.

Looking forward to the next two debates, especially the first Democratic debate. I’m watching Bernie, and I like Elizabeth Warren, too, though I know she isn’t in the race. I had to go look up who else was running besides Hillary. The rest of them don’t seem to be viable, and I don’t like anyone who wants to loosen up copyright restrictions, so Lawrence Lessig is definitely out for me.

So many other things going on in the world as well, but it’s late. We can talk about them soon, as I am determined to write on a regular basis! I’ll be catching up with you all, as well! 🙂

(YEAH you know I had to go look it up, damn it 😉 – that guy I referred to earlier that dropped out was Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.)

Anyway, just some things I have been thinking about . . .

  1. I saw the debate too. I was going to tell you Scott Walker, but you remembered. Thank you for liking my comment on Jason’s post. I am sorry he is feeling like he is in a slump. Nice to meet you.

PS I was going to be a political blogger, but I changed my mind.

    1. Hey Paul!! I am trying to get back in the saddle – been spending way too much time lately wallowing in some form or fashion. And of course you can come on the road trip – I have run the roads (in limited geographical areas) for so many years, but after reading some of your stories . . . I think you would make a perfect road-trippin’ partner!! 😉 NOT giving up on the job hunt either – we are just one “black market day” away from losing it all, so never giving up!! I may not be counted in the unemployment numbers flying around, but I am here, I am unemployed, and I NEED to work!! There MUST be someone out there who needs a brilliant mind such as mine – yeah I laughed as I wrote that, too 🙂

    1. Hey DSS! The only reason we haven’t started looking for jobs in other places is because of our girls (daughter & granddaughters) – otherwise probably would’ve flown this coup a long time ago! Thanks for encouraging me to write more often, too 🙂 I’m usually fairly motivated, but lately have been needing a few nudges here & there!

      1. Grandkids are a very good reason. We are living 5 hours away from ours and wish we were closer, but the job is where we are and need to be. Just waiting for retirement in a couple years, can get closer then. 🙂

  2. Well, speaking on behalf of the rest of the world – (I don’t often get to say that!) – then for pity’s sake don’t elect Trump as your next president America. Sadly, I can’t even say “anyone but him”, but if Bernie comes through then the rest of us can breathe a big sigh of relief.

    1. Hi Hariod! I thought Trump would start burning out, but yesterday I heard his plan to restructure the tax code & I fear that will draw more attention to him. His plan might actually be a good one – but talking it and making it happen are 2 different things. Plus, the tax code here is just one of our many issues and certainly doesn’t keep us safe or provide more employment opportunities for Americans in their own country.

  3. I’m job free too (full-time anyway). It’s still pretty trying on me and wearing me down. I feel for you and your husband. I can get into the sloth-like frame of mind too. Let’s keep pushing and stay positive. It’s challenging but it’s the only thing to do.

    1. I hate to hear that GR (that you are “job-free,” too) AND we must keep pushing and keep a positive mindset!! It is challenging and I don’t always succeed – BUT it is the only thing we can do!! Thanks for the encouraging words!! 🙂 Sending good thoughts your way!!

    1. Hey CM!! I would so love to take a road trip – but that usually involves a little money. Having said that, the last time I took a real road trip/vacation (that wasn’t for a funeral) was quite some time back, but I did get 3 job offers at that time. Having said that – maybe that’s exactly what we need LOL!!! Maybe I could rekindle that magical slice of time 😉

  4. Ah, road trips. I spent half a career doing road trips, border to border, coast to coast. Never thought I would miss them but I do. Trump. I was with him until I realized that his lack of specifics wasn’t a strategy but a genuine lack. I don’t suppose it really matters anyway. The president and the supreme court now create laws by fiat, according to their political slant and the houses of congress haven’t time to assert their relevance as it would interfere with the time needed to raise funds for reelection. Here in the Lone Star State we have the constant but impossible dream of secession and that keeps a lot of us going these days. Advice: Chuck a great big WTF to the whole thing, gas up the buggy and go.

    1. I’m a Texas girl myself, Rixlibris 🙂 I LOVE your advice – WTF just do it!! I am seriously considering it . . . if money wasn’t a big deal would already be tooling down the road!! 😉 Unfortunately, since I have gotten older, I am just so damn responsible . . . my younger self would’ve already been g~o~n~e LOL!!

  5. Bummer about the job situation!

I don’t think Sanders stands a chance, but he’d be pretty awesome. If Biden got in the race, especially with Elizabeth Warren as VP, that would be the ticket I’d support big time.

Agree about Graham… and several other very scary candidates on the Repub side. I do find Trump’s apparent utter lack of political guile refreshing. When he was on Colbert, I have to admit I found myself liking him. Oddly, both Sanders and Warren, who were on the same week, lost some points with me for not answering Stephen’s direct questions. Both used his questions as springboards for their own agenda. I happen to agree with those agendas, but I’m bothered by people who can’t answer a question directly.

I do wish we had actual investigative news in this country… This Planned Parenthood video thing the Repubs are using as a club… I have yet to see any news org do an indepth investigation of the reality of that. But the news orgs are all a complete terrible joke.

And would someone please, please, please cut off Zombie Blitzer’s head? The walking dead as a “news” reporter just doesn’t work for me.

    1. Hey WS! Yes, we saw Trump on Colbert, too – and he did seem to “tone it down” a bit for that appearance – my husband said the same thing you did 🙂 I, too, get suspicious when a person won’t answer a question directly. My degree is in Communications, and we were taught about REAL journalism and investigative reporting – but that was about the time the Internet really started kicking and once that happened – well we all know how that has turned out. Access to more information 24-7 doesn’t equate to better or more informed . . . just info overload and confusion about what is actually “REAL & TRUE!” I think the Republicans have always hated Planned Parenthood – as it allows options and avenues for women not “vetted” by middle-aged men dressed in suits! I haven’t seen an in-depth investigation into those videos either, so if you do please share that info with me. I don’t watch Blitzer – the only reason I pay any attention to CNN or Fox News is to get ideas on what I really need to research to find the truth 🙂

      1. Yeah, we live in an age of assertion as fact and truth not only isn’t even in the back seat nor even lurking in the trailer… it’s standing on the side of the road trying to hitch a ride, poor thing.

I try to avoid Blitzer, too, but you know how zombies are — persistent and they get into everything. Someone give Anderson Cooper a sharp machete!
